Hi, I’m Robyn Greenspan — Certified ADHD and Motivational Coach — and if you’re wondering what is an ADHD coaching actually is (and whether it’s for you), you’re not alone.

Let’s clear the noise and get you some clarity.

ADHD Coaching Isn’t Therapy. It’s Your Strategic Support Partner.

ADHD coaching is not about “fixing” you. It’s about understanding your brain — the way it naturally thinks, moves, and processes — and creating practical, brain-friendly strategies to help you do the things that matter most.

This work isn’t rooted in judgment. It’s rooted in science, support, and strengths. I’m here to help you build momentum and trust in your follow-through — not by forcing willpower, but by working with your nervous system, not against it.

Think: structure without rigidity. Accountability without shame. Tools without overwhelm.

So, What Does an ADHD Coach Actually Do?

As your coach, I help you:

  • Set realistic goals that feel aligned with your values
  • Identify what’s getting in the way (spoiler: it’s usually not laziness)
  • Build systems that work with your executive function
  • Reduce friction and decision fatigue
  • Stay connected to your purpose, not just your to-do list

Together, we design an approach that fits your brain, your life, and your season.

You don’t need to be more disciplined — you need tools that are designed for how you work best.

Who Is ADHD Coaching For?

I work with professionals, executives, college students, teens, and parents — many of whom are smart, driven, and absolutely exhausted trying to manage their ADHD on their own.

If you’ve ever said:

  • “I know what I need to do… I just can’t seem to do it.”
  • “I start strong, then I stall out.”
  • “Why does everything feel harder than it should be?”

Then coaching might be the missing piece. Especially if you’ve already tried apps, planners, or productivity hacks that never quite stick.

How Is Coaching Different From Therapy?

Great question. I get this one a lot.

Therapy helps you process the past and heal emotional wounds. ADHD coaching is more about the now and the next — what’s working, what’s not, and what small steps we can take to move forward.

Many of my clients have both a therapist and a coach. Therapy offers emotional insight. Coaching turns that insight into action. We’re complementary, not competing.

If therapy is about healing, coaching is about building.

What Does the Science Say?

ADHD coaching has been shown to improve executive function, emotional regulation, academic performance, and overall life satisfaction. For example, one review found that 17 out of 19 outcome studies showed improvements in focus, follow-through, and self-esteem for individuals working with ADHD coaches (Ahmann & Saviet, 2021).

In college settings, students who received coaching reported more academic confidence, better organization, and higher retention rates (Prevatt & Levrini, 2015).

But honestly? You don’t need a study to tell you what it feels like when something clicks. When it’s finally easier to get started. When you stop dreading the day before it begins. That shift is real. And I see it happen all the time.

How Do I Know If It’s Right for Me?

If you’re:

  • Tired of powering through on adrenaline
  • Constantly juggling (and dropping) tasks
  • Doing well on the outside but running on fumes internally
  • Wanting to feel more present, focused, and intentional…

Then ADHD coaching may be exactly what you’ve been looking for. And the best part? You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Let’s start with a low-pressure conversation to see what’s possible.

Your Brain Deserves Better Tools

Whether you’re navigating work, school, parenting, or just life in general — you deserve systems that support your brain, not shame it.

FAQ: What is ADHD Coaching?

What is an ADHD coach?

An ADHD coach is a professional who partners with individuals with ADHD to help them navigate life with more ease, clarity, and intention. Think of it like having someone on your team whose sole job is to support how your brain works — not how the world says it should. An ADHD coach doesn’t “fix” you (because you’re not broken); instead, they help you build structures, habits, and mindset shifts that allow you to show up in your life as your most capable and confident self.

What does an ADHD coach do?

An ADHD coach helps you bridge the gap between what you want to do and what you actually do. That might mean working on planning systems, learning to manage distractions, or figuring out how to break that habit of beating yourself up. A coach works with you to uncover your strengths, identify barriers, and co-create realistic, supportive strategies. Sessions are future-focused — we don’t dwell in the past. Instead, we ask, “What’s next — and how do we make it work for you?”

How is ADHD coaching different from therapy?

Therapy often focuses on healing — unpacking the past, processing trauma, or working through mental health conditions. ADHD coaching, in contrast, focuses on taking action in the present. It’s about problem-solving, planning, and accountability. That said, many of my clients work with both a therapist and a coach — and when they do, magic happens. The two approaches can beautifully complement each other.

Who should consider ADHD coaching?

If you’ve ever said, “I know what I need to do… I just can’t seem to do it,” ADHD coaching might be exactly what you need. It’s for people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated with themselves — whether they’re newly diagnosed or have known about their ADHD for years. Students, professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives, parents… If executive function challenges are getting in your way, coaching can help.

What are the benefits of working with an ADHD coach?

Working with an ADHD coach often means fewer dropped balls, more follow-through, and a lot more self-compassion. You learn how to work with your brain, not against it. You build momentum where there used to be paralysis. Clients often report that coaching helps them stop procrastinating, feel more organized, and — maybe most importantly — stop feeling like a failure.
